SHYIRA DIOCESE IN THE LAND OF THOUSAND HILLS
Shyira Diocese is found in Rwanda, a tiny country fondly known as the land of thousand hills in the Central African region.
This Diocese is located in North Western part of Rwanda . It covers Kibuye , Gisenyi and Ruhengeri provinces with a total surface area of 5,243 square kilometers.
It's the biggest among 9 Episcopal Dioceses in the country. Shyira Diocese borders with Uganda to the north and Congo to the West.
It's a blessed diocese ,positioned in an area with plenty of tourist attractions like an interesting chain of volcanoes with rare mountain gorillas, lake Kivu,Burera and Ruhondo.The diocesan headquarter is in 100kms from Kigali the capital city of Rwanda. It's in a temperate climate with two rainy seasons( February to May and November to January).

The Volcanic chain in which you can
find mountains gorillas is composed by Muhabura,
Gahinga,Sabyinyo,Bisoke and Kalisimbi
On the top of Bisoke Volcano you may
visit a crater lake. You can find also the same lake
on the top of Muhabura,Gahinga and Kalisimbi
In Gitare Parish, not far from MUHABURA Volcano; MUSANGABO bay , the diocese wishes to build a touristic hotel.
